How to Get the Most Out of Your 6x3 Timber
A bit of care goes a long way with any timber product. Even though our 6x3 is pressure treated for outdoor use, storing it properly before installation helps keep it in the best condition. Stack it flat on a level surface, ideally off the ground using bearers, and keep it covered if it is going to sit outside for a while before you use it.
When it comes to fixing, pre-drilling is always a good idea to avoid splitting, especially near the ends. Use stainless steel or galvanised screws and fixings for outdoor work, as these hold up much better against the weather over time. If you are cutting the timber to size, applying an end grain preservative to any freshly cut ends will help maintain the treatment and protect against moisture getting in.
